Nestled within the city of Geneva lies an alternative punk subculture of artists, its name is Quai des Forces Motrices Despite its reputation as being a city of politics and bland culture, Quai des Forces Motrices poses a wondrous scene that has yet to be viewed anywhere.

Dissimilar to the majority of cities around Europe, the artists here are respectful of Geneva’s history, making sure not to deface extraordinary buildings. Yet, they are courageous and bold in their political messaging.

Salut Geneva!

Off we go on our first official business adventure abroad. We have become used to traveling by now but preparing for a trip for work is a whole other ball game. Goodbye impromptu car rides and ticket purchases. From hiring the appropriate staff to packing our bags, these trips require much planning.

This is not to say that we aren’t (incredibly) excited. We hear that Geneva is oddly sterile and pristine. Perhaps it should be called the Singapore of Europe. And I can’t wait to taste an assortment of fine chocolates and cheese (yes, we are still on a budget so the “assortment” will be rather small). We shall see… I think it should make for some good writing.

Send us some travel tips for Geneva and we will publish them on this site!

Check back for updates on our week-long business adventure to Geneva. In the meantime, take a look at the art installation we are working on, Altering Landscapes.

If you are interested in flying out to Geneva during the months of August, September and/or October round-trip tickets start at $700. Hurry and book one, I have a feeling that is a recession deal.

An amazing artists went to Berlin and, to our surprise, did a piece for So Elsewhere on a wall. Take a look and read about the obstacles he had to overcome to get it up.

A young fan, did us a big honor; For a day in Berlin, So Elsewhere made a brief but massive entrance into the graffiti scene.

The reader, John Garcia, who is responsible for our wondrous bleep into the street art world, tells the story best. Below is the (slightly edited) email he sent So Elsewhere:

“Basically, since you can tell this whole piece was pretty big, I ended up going over a lot of people’s stuff. I guess these guys painted there yesterday, came back to check on their pieces, and freaked the f*ck out when they saw me painting the wall. They came up and tried to take all my paint (10 cans? 12?) and I think they were also planning to beat the sh*t out of me. Luckily, my mom was there. Usually this would be a bad thing, but her insane gestures added some comedy to the situation, so these guys got confused at the absurdity and fleed the crime scene.

The Lowdown:

These two thirty year old guys came up and grabbed my paint, started cussing me out in German, and walked towards my backpack to take my sh*t. Out of nowhere, my mom appears screaming. She follows her loud introduction by swan-diving onto my backpack so they couldn’t grab my pack. As soon as she landed on the bag she started begging in a combination of languages (she switched between Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and English) for them to have mercy.

Anyways, the guys were so confused by my mom’s performance that they both left. As they were leaving one of them yelled, “I’m gonna come back and stab you!”. I finished before he came back, so I am without a stab wound to back up the sincerity of his claim.

But! the one can that he ripped from my hand.. was the red. The rest of the cans were blacks/whites/ that i didn’t need, so considering the situation, they still did considerable damage.

These guys were huge b*tches with their panties on too tight. I was painting a legal wall, so you can’t expect your sh*t to last more than ten minutes. In their case, their piece had already run a full day. By the time I finished this piece, there was already another guy there with 20 or so spray cans, waiting to paint the wall after me. The tuff guys had claimed they were really famous in Berlin. I’m assuming that they are not famous.
